Michigan Minimum Wage Increase

On may 27, 2014 Michigan Governer Rick Snyder signed legislation into law that raises the Michigan minimum wage from its current rate of $7.40 to $9.25 an hour.

The raise will go into effect over the next four years.  The increase will start in September 2015 when the rate moves to $8.15.  In January 2016 it will be raised to $8.50.  In January 2017 it will increase to $8.90 and again in January 2018 to $9.25.

Starting in 2019 future minimum wage increase will be adjusted to the rate of inflation or 3.5 percent, whichever is lower.

Read more about about the law at Senate Bill 934.
