In order to place
commercials on national TV you first have to have the
commercial made. This can be done one of several ways.
You can create the ad yourself or you can contact an Ad
Agency. See a list of resources below that help
you create your ad.
Getting the ad on
the air requires utilizing the service of an Ad Agent,
Ad Agency or contacting the TV station directly.
See a list of Ad Agencies below.
What you should
know about Ad Agents/Agencies:
If you
utilize the service of an Ad Agency, they should only
make money
when you do. Ad agencies get a 15% "agency discount", or
commission, from TV stations where they place your
advertising.
If you
pay your agent $2,000 for TV ads, the agent keeps $300
and pays the
TV station $1,700.
Watch
out for agencies that attempts to overdo commercial
production in order
to increase profits. Some Agencies get the bulk of
their income from the
production of commercials.
