You should follow these phases when trying to come up with a name for your business.

Preparation Phase:

Prepare yourself by thinking of the following:

- What is the image that I want to protray?

- What am I selling?

- Do I want to use existing words or use new words?

- What demographic am I serving?

- Will I be growing the business in the future?

Generation Phase:

Generate up to 5 different names that you believe you could go with.  Remember the more your name communicates to consumers, the less effort you must exert to explain it (i.e., branding).  You can use Naming.net to generate names based on the text you enter.  It's a free service.

Evaluation Phase:

Evaluate each name separately.  Get feedback from others such as your friends and family.  Have your friends and family examine each name separately then compare them and list them in the order of preference.  Don't forget to check the name in other languages.  Use these tools:

- Google Translate
- SDL Free Translation
- Translator
- Bing Translator

Secure/Registration Phase:

Do your research on the web, states' databases, domain names lookup, trademark to make sure they are not taken.  If they are not taken already go ahead and secure the name by registering them.  Register the domain name, file a trademark/provisional trademark and register the company name with the state when you file for incorporation papers.
